Tell us about a typical day in the life of Director of Operations for Treehouse Hotel London. There is no typical day for me! That is the beauty of working in hospitality, every day is different and wonderful in its own way. Overall though, I start off my day by visiting all of our venues, checking our public areas and saying hello to all of our team members on shift. I then make my way to my office where I start checking our reviews on TripAdvisor, Revinate, and all of our OTAs. We then have a morning rally with all of our leaders at 10am and from there on, my days consists of various meetings with our leaders and various walk-arounds to ensure all is consistent for our guests across our entire hotel, whilst also making sure our team members all know and see me and have the ability to speak to me if they need anything at all. How did you get into the hospitality industry? I was very lucky and my mother and father loved travelling so from a very young age, I was constantly in hotels with them around the world. When I was about to graduate high school therefore, my dad suggested I go to Switzerland and try to see if I liked the hospitality schools there. Needless to say, I fell in love at Glion with the school, the people, the industry and all that it comes with. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else! What have your experiences taught you? My experiences taught me that respect is earned and that before you ask anyone else to do a job, you should be willing to do the job yourself. Also, never regret making mistakes, that’s how you learn! What’s your favourite work of art in London? The street art in London especially in Shoreditch is my favourite. Favourite London Park or Garden Square and why? My favourite park in London is Regents Park as it is the only park where I do not get completely lost walking around and also, I just love the cherry blossoms there! Did you have a Treehouse growing up, or what’s your favourite childhood memory? I sadly did not have a treehouse growing up, but I did have a chicken coop in my garden 😊 And I think some of my favourite memories are exactly in that garden, on the swings, camping with my parents and cousins in tents, and gardening the vegetable and rose gardens with my mom. What makes the perfect summer in London? The perfect summer in London is when the sun comes out and London is beautiful and you just get lost in all the small alleys with all the wonderful little shops and pop-ups that make London so wonderful!
